Call for Submissions:
The PIEA Journal for Photography Education is an academic,
peer-reviewed journal initiated to address issues related to teaching
and learning within the context of Photographic Imaging. To submit an
article or images to the PIEA Journal, please send completed articles
and /or images via e-mail to

November 1, 2008. Be sure to type the words "Journal Submission" in the
Subject line of your e-mail. You will receive a reply e-mail within 5
days.
If you do not receive a receipt reply e-mail to your submission within
5 days,

Authors
Authors retain the copyright for their articles, and are responsible for obtaining permission for reproduction of any images not in the public domain.
Acceptance
Articles are accepted from PIEA members and non-members.
Articles may be submitted to the editor anytime during the year after
November 1, 2008 but the first Review Process will begin on January 5,
2009. Publication within a given issue will be determined by the
editor.

Potential Submission Categories Submissions may fall into one of the suggested Photo-Imaging categories below:
● Features: Articles addressing instructional research in photo-imaging, instructional philosophy, the science and profession of teaching, learning theory, and other significant issues related to excellence in learning and teaching photography/imaging.
● Current Issues: Articles giving a brief overview of a timely issue related to the teaching of photographic imaging. Submitted articles would serve to introduce perspectives, insights and potentially propose solutions.
● Viewpoint: Articles expressing an author's opinion on a subject related to Photo-imaging teaching and learning. The viewpoint may be controversial.
● Reviews -Reviews of books, web sites, software applications, or other resource that may be of interest to the educational community.
● Reader Response - Comments concerning an article previously published in The PIEA Journal for Photography Education.

Submission Specifications:
Since The PIEA Journal for Photography Education is published on the
Web, authors are encouraged to plan their articles with electronic
layout considerations in mind. Articles should be developed in sections
with headings that can serve as navigation links within the article.
Notes and citations should be placed at the end of the article for ease
in creating links to them. The PIEA Journal for Photography Education
accepts only completed articles for consideration. Neither abstracts
nor proposals will be reviewed.
Articles must be in Rich text file format. Articles with
photographs must be submitted in Rich Text Format (text component
of the submission) and the images must be in JPEG file format at 72
pixels per inch, no larger than 1024 pixels x 768 pixels in RGB or
Grayscale format. A proof of the complete article (to demonstrate your
intended layout) should be submitted in PDF format. See our

Submission will transpire via e-mail clearly stating the intent to be
considered for publication in The PIEA Journal for Photography
Education. The message must include the name, title, complete address,
phone number and e-mail address for each author.
Manuscripts must be in English. Articles may be accompanied by image
files with captions. A 100-150 word abstract at the beginning and a
100-150 word biography of the author(s) must be submitted at the same
time as the article. Notes/citations must be included at the end of the
article in APA Style format.
The “cover sheet” will contain the author's name, mailing and
e-mail addresses telephone number and word count. The author's name will
appear only on the cover sheet of the article file. Accompanying image
files will be labeled with (an abbreviated) title similar to the article
title. Image files must be numbered in order of appearance. The title
of the article, but not the author's name, must be repeated on the first
page of the text.
The following statement must be included on the cover sheet if images
are submitted:
Original documents granting permission to publish enclosed images are
currently on file with the author.
Copyright
The policy of The PIEA Journal for Photography Education is that author
retains the copyright to the article. All articles in The PIEA Journal
for Photography Education will carry the notation "© DATE by Author
(author's e-mail address). The right to make additional exact copies,
including this notice, for personal and classroom use, is hereby
granted. All other forms of distribution and copying require permission
of the author."
The author transfers the right to The PIEA Journal for Photography
Education to archive and to distribute copies containing the copyright
notice.
By accepting The PIEA Journal for Photography Education offer to
publish in The PIEA Journal for Photography Education the author agrees
with the above transfer of rights.
